A Message from our Director...
Jeanne Leick, Executive Director
Change sums up the last year and a half at the ALHRA. As the new Executive Director, I began my duties with the agency in September of 2019. Since that time, we have replaced the flooring, painted the main floor common area, completed the brick stabilization project and the modernization of the two elevators at Shady Oaks. The office was remodeled adding an interview space, and computer for tenants to use while allowing for social distancing. A physical needs assessment of Shady Oaks will be completed soon to help staff prioritize future Capital Fund projects.
We are very excited to announce our partnership with the Department of Human Services. Human Services staff will be meeting with clients Tuesday’s and Thursdays in the conference room at Shady Oaks.
The Resident Council has been planning activities for Shady Oaks now that we are able to have group meetings. Game nights, bingo and a community garden are just some of the activities that are being planned by the Resident Council.
Staff completed the renovation of two scattered site houses and have plans to renovate three more houses in 2021.
The Albert Lea Housing Authority is committed to the people that we serve. We truly believe that we can make a difference in solving the affordable housing crisis in our community and will be a leader in these efforts.
