ANNOUNCEMENT: Board Opening for Resident Board Member
The Albert Lea HRA was created in 1965 through a cooperative agreement between the City of Albert Lea, Minnesota and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The agency provides 176 units of Public Housing, eight units of Rural Development Housing, and 155 Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV). Our mission is to provide safe and decent affordable housing to the communities and citizens we serve.
Regular Board of Commissioners monthly meetings of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority in and for the City of Albert Lea, Minnesota, are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 5:30 P.M. at 800 4th Ave South, Albert Lea, MN, Shady Oaks Conference Room and are open to the public.
One member of the Board shall be a Resident Board member.
Qualifications
Current resident who is 18 years of age or older and is directly assisted by the Albert Lea HRA.
Duties
As of March 2024, all Board of Commissioners shall be appointed for a term of two years with a limit of four-consecutive terms.
- Commissioners Provide Leadership
- Set and champion the mission of the PHA
- Make strategic decisions to ensure the financial solvency of the agency
- Speak up when concerns arise
- Approve, review, and monitor budgets, contracts, and other financial documents
- Conduct monthly reviews of budgets with actual expenses and revenues
- Ensure ethical, legal, and effective work performance of ALHRA employees.
